Another of my illustrations I have been designing

I have just been working on some fashion pieces for my designs. I have chosen to place my illustrations onto collared blouses which I think would look really nice on sheer fabric/silk and also placed some of my illustrations to be made into structured pencil dresses.

Here is another one of my designs for scarves, all hand painted. I am currently working on my third scarf which will be ready at the beginning of next week...

Tuesday 20 November 2012

This is me working on my first scarf design, featuring horses and bird wings hiding behind the Horses.... I have used a mixture of fine line and painted detailed surface pattern.

Here are a select number of images taken of visual merchandising from the flagship department stores, Harrods, Selfridges, Harvey Nichols and Libertys in London. I enjoyed looking at the scarves from designers such as Manolo Blahnick, Etro, Swash, Richard Weston plus many more from Libertys including Libertys own range......

Today is Saturday and I'm on my way to London to research for another project but it also gives me a fantastic opportunity to find inspiration for my scarf collection. I have been asked to paint, by hand, 60x60 scarves and I'm working on that now. I'll be taking pictures whilst in London and post my findings. I'll keep you updated within the next couple of days with my progress!

I have been thinking about doing some cut out work on a fashion piece for my final show using a pattern I have made to cut cut from and showing my image/illustration (in digital print)peeping through the cut out work....I came across these images from Print source of some dresses that had been made similar for one of there previous collections. I have also worked on a couple of scarf designs over the weekend too..

Well this week or so has been an extremely tough and tiring week, working through to some god forsaken hours, my arm aches from drawing and painting and the only thing that is keeping me going are over sized cans of red bull, but have just got to keep going at the pace I have been... I had a review of my work last week that went well, and up to now are pleased with the results. There is so much to think of with, what feels like, so little time. I had been asked to develop my images further and also introduce more flowers/trees etc to start layering my images and bringing them forward into design. I have currently started to put some of my work together and hopefully by the start of next week have my designs ready to work on...

Here are some of my latest drawings.... Some are done for background images.

Tuesday 16 October 2012

This dress has been featured on a poster on my daughters wall for some time and I have to say I have always admired looking at it.... It's a Vivienne Westwood dress featuring the works of 17th Century artist Peter Paul Ruben. This dress goes to show that such fine detailed artwork from the Renaissance period can travel all these years and be brought right up to date printed onto a very contemporary dress from a very contemporary designer.....

As promised last week, here are the starting illustrations of my body of work....I have tried to create surreal like images collaborated illustrative drawings in pen and ink or graphite pencil incorporating digital imagery to give a secret mystical look to the garden... Hope you like them, there will be more to follow next week.....

Ok so I felt a blog was needed for this one......... I have currently been working on my drawings but have recently got very excited for the window displays currently in Harvey Nichols that I have found on a visual Merchandising report on WGSN. Take a look..... As I am wanting to do some window decals as my final design, I found these very appropriate to my theme. My drawings will be added in the next couple of days.

I have just come across these images of Chalkboard lettering by Dana Tanamachi... I think that this type of lettering would work well on some of my designs.

Tuesday 25 September 2012

Well first tutorial over and what an amazing way it has been to inspire me to look at different areas.... Fresh ideas with fresh eyes!! Today I have looked at Shona Heath who is more of a photographic/ Installation artist....... Her Surrealist approach to her work has been inspiring to the approach I wish to take.....

These visuals were featured all over Selfridges stores over the Summer period to commemorate the Queens Jubilee...... I love the way the artist has combined illustrative drawings pieced together with collage visuals to create a really contemporary feel to the image......

I have been very lucky to find such great images in the form of primary research for my subject area of study and therefore been able to draw from these....
Here is an image i have illustrated in pencil as part of my sketchbook journal in line with some of the animals featured in the film........ I think that this would look great worked on some ceramics or wall covering
Current inspirations and starting points for my art work have been taken from the story and film The Secret Garden. My current drawings are focused more on Illustration..... Take a look....
